This piece sat on my design wall for well over a year during a time in my life when I was not making art. I felt a great emptiness during that time and each time I walked into my studio I saw the bones of this quilt waiting to be dressed. When I was finally able to return to my creative calling, "Resurgence" was the word that kept echoing in my mind. The arms of the central motif are all made from the same hand dyed fabric that I appliquéd onto the dark blue ombre background. The quilting is free motion and I used yarns and various decorative ribbons as rays bursting from the center. I hand beaded the arms with thousands of glass beads. Bright yellow binding frames the quilt. A sleeve is sewn to the upper back edge where a rod or dowel can be inserted for hanging.
